Christmas is only a few weeks away and if you haven’t started getting into that festive spirit yet, now is a perfect time. When temperatures drop and ice and snow fills the streets it can be difficult to find a way to get out, get gifts bought, or outdoor decorations put up. So we’ve put together a short list of ideas to get you into the Christmas spirit while keeping you safe and warm inside this year.
1. Indoor Decorating
Decorating your house inside can be a wonderful way to get yourself in that Christmas mood. Putting up a Christmas tree, hanging stockings, placing lights around your windows, and even simply playing Christmas music throughout the home can bring the feeling of the holidays to any home.
2. Watching Christmas Movies
A great way to start the holiday season is with Christmas movies. Some of the classics we recommend are Miracle on 34th Street, It’s a Wonderful Life, and The Nutcracker. If you’re looking for more modern films that the whole family would love why not try out Dr. Seuss’ The Grinch, Elf, The Christmas Chronicles, or 8-Bit Christmas. These films are all wonderful to enjoy with friends or family or even by yourself to give the joy and happiness this winter season brings.
If you’re up for it another fun tradition can be baking different treats for friends, family, yourself, or even your church congregation. Homemade cut out cookies can be a wonderful treat with santa, snowflakes, and reindeer cookies cutters. These are easily found online or in stores this time of year. If big recipes aren’t your thing or if you’re new to baking simply purchasing premade cookie dough and following the instructions on the container can be just as fun and rewarding. Invite a friend or family member to join in the fun and you’ll start feeling all that holiday warmth together.
These are just a few suggestions to get you into that holiday spirit. We know this time of year can be hard for some especially when it’s more difficult to travel and be out and about. So try a few of these suggestions or come up with some of your own and let us know about them. We love to hear what brings you holiday spirit.
